About Caroline
Caroline started Whole Self Nutrition in 2018 after she spent years healing her own relationships to food and body, with a deep desire to help others heal theirs—through writing, speaking, counseling, and teaching yoga. For years, she relied on various forms of disordered eating or exercise behaviors to cope with difficult life situations and emotions she didn’t yet know how to manage. She had to be uncomfortably and brutally honest with herself in order to receive deep healing (and professional help) and to reconnect with herself and her body in a peaceful, freeing way. Doing this work allowed her to continue her life’s journey as the woman she was truly meant to be. Although her healing process was one of the most challenging chapters of her life, it was entirely worth the freedom she experiences today. She firmly believes that lasting recovery from disordered eating and eating disorders is possible, and some of the most rewarding moments of her life have been sitting in sessions with her nutrition counseling clients.

Her first career, beginning in 2011, was in print journalism. She worked as a general assignment newspaper reporter in Atlanta and began writing nutrition and health-related content on a freelance basis. Reporting the truth—especially about nutrition, eating disorders, and finding peace with food and body, all of which are often misunderstood—became incredibly important to her. This passion ultimately led her to return to school to earn her master’s degree in nutrition. After becoming a dietitian in 2016, she worked for an innovative brand where she learned to merge her communications training with her nutrition expertise. Today, she enjoys collaborating with the mainstream media and like-minded brands and organizations to help more people build healthy relationships with food and their bodies, through writing and speaking engagements. Caroline has been featured in a range of outlets, including Yahoo! Health, Good Housekeeping, HuffPost, Yoga Journal, Food Network, and Shape.

Over the past 10 years, she has had the great pleasure of teaching yoga in a variety of settings, including traditional studios, addiction recovery centers, beachfronts, and mountain retreats. She aims to weave yoga philosophy into every corner of her personal and professional lives.

Before starting her own practice, Caroline worked in a therapy private practice and in an eating disorder treatment center as the Intensive Outpatient (IOP) dietitian, where she also led weekly family meals and nutrition groups. Earlier in her career, she served as a dietitian in an inpatient setting on a women’s trauma unit of a mental health hospital and in an outpatient setting of a substance-abuse facility, also supporting their eating disorder populations. She has co-led three women’s yoga and wellness retreats and facilitated outpatient eating disorder recovery groups.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, baby boy, and dog—whether they’re traveling or simply relaxing at home. She loves being in nature, practicing yoga, connecting with close family and friends, reading and writing, and exploring new places and cultures.
